Hi, I'm Rikki
Some people regard what I do as simply painting nails and working in an environment surrounded by vanity. This is so very, very far from the truth. The way I see it, I am fortunate enough to have met some on the most amazing, genuine women - which have since become friends, some even like family. I like to explain what I do as "getting to hang out with your girlfriends everyday." Yes, at a basic level, I am "just" painting nails, rubbing cream on someone's face or putting makeup on them, however, what I am really doing on a far deeper level is making that person feel important, beautiful and, hopefully, happy. How often can you get to do that for someone? In an industry that makes millions telling women how to look beautiful, I am utterly and completely about helping women feel beautiful. I may have other educational and industry experiences, but none of them have ever given me the same sense of purpose. There is nothing more heart breaking than a woman struggling with a negative perception of herself. Accordingly, I have ONE rule at the spa, "no negative self talk in my space." My space, my rules. My goal is always to leave you better than I found you (inside and out!)
Which leads me the next part of my "why." If you know me, you know that I believe beauty should have purpose. For me, that purpose is health. I am an unabashed tree-hugging hippy who enforces a "no chemicals in my food, my home and especially not in my beauty products" kind of lifestyle. This is not a fad or a bandwagon jump for me - it's my way of life. I have lived this way since I was 21 (oh so long ago) when organic was not "cool" at all. When I bought my first spa I changed every product the previous owner used. Why? Simple. I didn't believe in it and how was I supposed to encourage women to buy my products when there was no way in hell I was using them myself? Each product you will find in my boutique I have at home and I have tested extensively before it ever entered my shop. I have strong belief in organic, ethical companies and am always looking to support businesses that embody my beliefs.
